Run by a core team, Refugee Open Cities relies on a community of experts, artisans and volunteers. Here's an overview of our regular team members:
Sven is part of the Open State collective and co-founded ROC as a process and organizational developer. With a background in philosophy, economics and systems change, he is now responsible for the documentation and transfer of insights from the first prototype to new endeavors.
Co-founded ROC as a team facilitator, fundraiser and partnership manager. He's into entrepreneurship, communications and events and now serves the team with strategic advice. As a member of the Open State collective he works on innovating politics and transforming businesses for a more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
Joined the ROC team from the very beginning as a graphic designer, but gradually shifted to facilitation and project development. With her love for and experience in social design and participatory processes she is part of the ROC consulting team and the Transition Lab, as well as the Open State collective.
Tomma Suki Hinrichsen
Our participatory design expert, supporting creative solutions for complex problems. She currently studies product design with a focus on Transformation Design, developing methods and strategies to design societal processes and sustainable concepts.
David Maximilian Schützeberg
Max began as an enthusiastic volunteer in order to facilitate a team of refugees during our building festival. He now uses his background in economics to transform the project into a sustainable organization. Apart from handcraft and innovation processes, he is at his best doing project management, process optimization and product development.
Supervised the team and pushed forward our building festival in April 2017. An expert in design, facilitation and collaborative event organization, Kari connects and empowers people, processes & places with love and passion. As a member of the Open State collective she designs transformation for individuals, organizations and businesses.
Naturally an author and economist-philosopher, Stefan came in to develop the refugee camp’s internal system of exchange. Turns out he was most happy and effective when connecting with inhabitants for construction, inclusion and realizing the groups’ visions. He’s now eager to build new “ROC cells” and carry our methods to other places and teams.
Entrepreneur & Campaigner; founder of communications agency Wigwam working for WWF, Caritas, Migros or Amnesty, also a co-founder of fundraising app Twingle and campaigning conference reCampaign. After working in the agency sector for many years, Ole co-founded Open State and is one of the first drivers of the ROC Project.
